Our collaboration with Foodwise

We’re honored to work with Foodwise Teens because they:

  • Respect young people as effective change agents and are committed to helping them build advocacy and leadership skills

  • Teach youth about food justice, important life and job skills, and community building

Opportunity

  • Develop a plan for stability and growth by evolving the program model and restructuring programming

  • Strengthen the foundation to enable the program to be sustained, funded, and evaluated over time

  • Empower young people to build a thriving community and a healthier food system

Approach

  • Theory of Change mapping

  • Co-design of restructured programming

Health+ Studio led research, Theory of Change mapping, and collaborative exploratory and design sessions in partnership with Foodwise. To clarify the program vision and glean insights for expanded programming, mentorship, and job training from the diverse perspectives of all interest holders, Health+ Studio brought together members of the Foodwise leadership and staff, as well as program alumni and currently participating teens.

Foodwise Teen programming offers participants multiple opportunities for engagement to SEED, GROW, and CULTIVATE their development as change agents in their local food system. During each level, participants are supported to achieve outcomes in health and well-being, stewardship and leadership development, and career exploration.
